Iraq’s First International Campus in Erbil

Building has begun on the brand new British International College in Erbil. The establishment will provide College of London diploma applications when it opens in September 2023.ย College students can be in a position to enrol in programs together with Enterprise, Administration and Pc Science, with further topics on provide from 2024.ย

Talking on the ceremony, Masrour Barzani, the Kurdistan regional authorities prime minister, mentioned, โ€œI hope the teaching of University of London degrees in Kurdistan, which is a renowned international university, can serve the education and scientific sector in the Kurdistan Region.โ€

The 150,000 sq ft campus will embrace pupil lodging to cater for college kids from Iraq and the broader area. Up to 8,000 college students can be in a position to attend the college in its first six years.ย 

The University of London, which is a federation of 17 establishments together with LSE and UCL, presently offers distance and blended studying in 190 nations.ย

The brand new college is owned by Erbil-based buyers and GEMS holding firm.

David Hunt, outgoing UK consul basic to Erbil, mentioned, โ€œWe, as the UK are keen to increase ties and develop our relationship with the KRI further in the education sector. Such collaboration epitomises the relationship between the UK and the Kurdistan Region.โ€

Overall, the establishment of Iraq’s first international campus represents a significant step forward in expanding access to high-quality higher education opportunities and strengthening educational ties between the UK and the Kurdistan Region.
