OVERVIEW Marist College Bendigo is seeking a part time ongoing Student Counsellor to support young people across the college community. This role involves working individually with each student and collaboratively within the wellbeing group to provide guidance and support. The counsellor works closely with Marcellin Group educators and contributes to the college approach to student wellbeing and learning experience. The college is a co-education Catholic college providing learning opportunities from Foundation to Year 12. The role requires a professional who can build trusted relationships with students while working effectively within a multidisciplinary group environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide a trusted presence across the college – Work individually with student members of the college community – Support each young person in making meaning of their life – Work within the Wellbeing Team group – Work closely with the Marcellin Group Educator of each student – Empower the Marcellin Group Educator in supporting student wellbeing – Contribute to wellbeing support across the college environment REQUIREMENTS – Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent – Current Working with Children Check – Demonstrated experience in student counselling in a primary or secondary setting – Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS A Student Counsellor plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing, development, and learning experience of young people within a college environment. By working collaboratively with educators and wellbeing professionals, the counsellor helps create a supportive setting where each student can access guidance and meaningful support. This role also strengthens communication and collaboration between the student, counsellor, educators, and wellbeing group.
