Job Description:
The Department of Fine & Performing Arts at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is seeking a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Art (foundations) to begin in Fall (August) 2024. This is a 9-month appointment (Fall 2024-Spring 2025) with an opportunity for renewal. The primary duties will include teaching undergraduate foundation art courses such as drawing, 2D design, and/or 3D design. The expected teaching load is 3 courses per semester, primarily consisting of studio art majors and minors. Additional duties will involve service to the Art Department, including faculty meetings, assisting with gallery management, and community engagement activities.
Required Qualifications:
Successful candidates must hold an earned MFA degree in studio art prior to the start of the 2024-2025 academic year. They must also possess a portfolio of student work demonstrating proficiency in teaching the elements and principles of design.
Desired Qualifications:
Candidates with a hybrid studio practice using digital/traditional media (e.g., animation, video, 3D modeling, digital drawing) are preferred. An interest in teaching a special topics course in digital arts or a hybrid digital/traditional course is also desirable.
