Position Overview

As the Scholar Immigration Specialist within the International Student and Scholar Services unit at Washington State University (WSU), you will be responsible for coordinating and preparing non-immigrant petitions, Labor Certification Applications, correspondence, and reports. Working under the guidance of the Senior Associate Director for Immigration Compliance, you will also handle inquiries related to case processing, eligibility, and status updates.

This role requires you to provide knowledgeable and holistic support to ensure compliance with immigration regulations, maintain accurate records, and uphold lawful status for scholars. Additionally, you will manage the unit email account, interact with program participants, university departments, and external organizations, and use professional judgment in accordance with established guidelines.

In addition to advising scholars, this position involves serving as a liaison and petitioner with government agencies, organizations, and stakeholders on behalf of WSU. It is imperative to stay informed about evolving immigration regulations and apply them accurately to complex scholar cases, particularly in relation to F, J, and H-1B visa statuses.
