POSITION: International Student Advisor – Professional Services Specialist 4
LOCATION: International Student Advisement

JOB SUMMARY:
The International Student Advisor will serve as the Designated School Official (DSO) and support the work of the Director in processing SEVIS documents for new and continuing international students and exchange visitors. They will also advise students on matters related to maintaining their status and implement programs and services to support their success at New Jersey City University.

DUTIES:
– Serve as DSO for F1 students and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the university’s exchange programs
– Process immigration and visa documents for new and continuing international students and exchange visitors
– Support exchange partnerships and serve as a contact for global partners
– Assist university offices and departments in delivering services to ensure student success
– Participate in orientations for new international students and exchange visitors to ensure compliance with immigration regulations
– Develop and support programming, activities, workshops, and services for international students and exchange visitors
– Contribute to the development of marketing materials and web-based information for international students and exchange visitors
– Perform other assigned duties

EDUCATION:
– Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE:
– Minimum of 1 year of direct experience with SEVIS and International Student Services
– 3 to 5 years preferred

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
– Knowledge of SEVIS operations, regulations, and reporting requirements as evidenced by experience as a DSO
– Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student population, especially international students, and possess good listening, assessment, and problem-solving skills
– Strong preference for candidates who have lived, studied, or worked abroad

– Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. legal permanent resident as mandated by federal regulations
