In your role as the Specialist, you will provide assistance in all aspects of the daily operations of the Study Abroad & Away Office. This includes conducting preliminary student advising, facilitating faculty-led program applications and admissions, assisting with the development and organization of faculty-led programs, managing the student evaluation process, and planning and implementing the Study Abroad/Away Fair.
Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating programming for prospective and returnee students, assisting with pre-departure orientations, representing the TU Study Abroad & Away Office at university events, and conducting presentations and information sessions on campus. You will also handle administrative tasks, communicate with other administrative and academic units on campus, and may be required to travel domestically and internationally for professional development opportunities.
To be considered for this position, you should have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in administrative staff work. Knowledge of current trends within the education abroad field is essential, as well as excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. You should be interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Additionally, strong administrative and multi-tasking skills, along with high levels of organization, self-motivation, and attention to detail, are desired.
Preferred qualifications for this position include previous experience in international education, familiarity with web-based study abroad management systems, fluency in a foreign language, and personal experience of living, working, or studying abroad.
