Job Description:
Join our diverse team of over 70 staff members representing five continents and 16 native languages. NAU’s Center for International Education (CIE) is dedicated to inspiring positive change and fostering collaborative and innovative responses to a changing world.

As a Senior International Admissions Coordinator within the International Admissions and Evaluations (IAE) team, you will support student access, success, and excellence in education. Your role will involve assisting student applicants, faculty, and staff in ensuring a smooth and efficient application process. Responsibilities include student applicant processing, transcript evaluation, admission package review, and document processing. By identifying and implementing process improvements, you will enhance student satisfaction and contribute to NAU’s commitment to admitting a diverse and academically qualified student population. Additionally, you will serve as a guide, providing support and information to students regarding their specific circumstances, while upholding NAU’s high standards that make us an appealing choice for international students.

Admissions Responsibilities (50%):
– Support international undergraduate and graduate admissions, including data entry, application processing, transcript evaluation, and document processing.
– Assist with communication and collection of application materials, international admission decisions, and immigration support documents.
– Evaluate international transcripts and convert GPAs based on established criteria and an understanding of various international educational systems.
– Develop and document procedures to ensure compliance with US immigration regulations.
– Review and approve applicant documentation for I-20 issuance, cancellations, and deferrals.
– Support the admissions process for various admission types, including degree-seeking, exchange programs, sponsored students, and online and customized programs.
– Evaluate and improve international admissions processes and workflows, including updating admission forms and letters.
– Stay current on student-related immigration regulations and credential evaluation procedures through training and professional development opportunities.

Designated School Official (DSO) Duties (10%):
– Serve as a Designated School Official, guiding international students through the process of studying in the US, processing relevant documents, and maintaining records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
– Issue and process I-20s (Certificate of Eligibility for nonimmigrant Student Status).

Course Curriculum Management (10%):
– Assist with transfer credit posting and processing, including entering courses, verifying authenticity, establishing GPA equivalency, and completing liberal studies evaluations for potential partnerships.

Cross Campus Partnerships (10%):
– Collaborate with various departments, advisors, faculty, staff, and other campus partners to facilitate understanding of international admission processing.
– Serve as a point of contact in CIE for any questions about international students.

Scholarship Management (10%):
– Verify eligibility, track, and issue scholarships, and manage related communication.
– Support the tracking and management of the International Excellence Award in collaboration with the international recruitment area.

Other Responsibilities (10%):
– Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
– Minimum of three years of professional work experience, education, or training in higher education or business.
– Experience of living, working, or studying abroad, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
– US citizenship or lawful permanent residence status.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Five years of professional experience in international education, admissions, or a related field.
– Experience in transcript evaluation and transfer credits.
– Master’s degree in a related field.
– Familiarity with student management systems such as PeopleSoft, SalesForce, Sunapsis, etc.
– Experience in international student academic and/or immigration advising.
– Designated School Official (DSO) experience.
– Administrative experience with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

– Understanding of international student perspectives and cultural contexts to provide effective guidance.
– Knowledge of records administration and maintenance techniques and procedures.

– Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and language abilities.
– Proficiency in English composition, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic math skills.
– Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite, email systems, and student management systems.

Background Information:
Employment at Northern Arizona University is contingent upon satisfactory results of criminal background investigation, employment history verification, and degree verification (in some cases). Fingerprint background checks may also be required. NAU participates in the federal E-Verify program to ensure new employees’ eligibility to work in the US. Annual Security and Fire Safety reports are provided, complying with federal laws. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus.

Salary:
Expected salary is $52,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

FLSA Status:
This position is exempt from overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
