About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced academic leader to join our team at the University of Newcastle College of International Education. As the leader of the academic operations at our Kaplan-operated CBD-campus pathway college, you will play a vital role in ensuring that international students receive the highest quality education and preparation for their future studies at the University of Newcastle. You will be responsible for managing the non-award pathway programs for international students, while maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders within the university.

Responsibilities:
– Lead and motivate the academic team to achieve performance objectives, including student retention, engagement, lecturer engagement, and student success.
– Monitor student academic performance closely and provide necessary support measures when required.
– Lead and coach academic staff to excel in teaching practice, content development, and scholarship.
– Oversee teacher recruitment activities.
– Establish and maintain strong academic liaisons with the Vice President Academic at Kaplan Higher Education, the Director of Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning (Pathways), and the faculties and central administration at the University of Newcastle.
– Lead the academic staff in the preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and demonstrations using innovative and stimulating course materials.

Requirements:
– 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role with extensive academic management exposure in the international student environment (essential).
– Experience in people and operational leadership (essential).
– Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (essential).
– Experience in building relationships with partner universities.
– Hands-on management style.
– PhD qualified (desirable).
