Coordinator International Student Services Position – Padnos International Center – Allendale, MI (Full-Time)

Position Overview:
As a Coordinator for International Student Services at the Padnos International Center, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting international students by assisting with immigration, cultural adjustment, and academic integration. This position involves advising students on F1 and J1 student regulations, including work authorization, and orchestrating international student orientations.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Starting salary: $52,000 (negotiable based on experience).

Primary Duties:

  • Provide guidance on immigration, financial, academic, and cultural matters for international students, including financial aid and work authorizations like OPT/STEM OPT.
  • Design and manage orientation programs to aid students’ transition into academic and cultural life.
  • Organize events fostering engagement between international and domestic students, staff, and the local community.
  • Utilize your role as a Designated School Official (DSO) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) to manage immigration processes and maintain SEVIS records.
  • Connect students with campus resources and community cultural opportunities to support their development.
  • Conduct consultations to address student concerns, advocating for their needs.
  • Build partnerships with local organizations for employment and cultural opportunities.
  • Hire and train student staff, ensuring high-quality support.
  • Develop communication strategies for impactful messaging to international students.
  • Serve as the liaison for J-1 Sponsored Student Programs and contribute to relevant committee work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in programs like word processing, spreadsheets, email, and databases.
  • Strong intercultural communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and adaptability in fast-changing environments.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in international program administration and student advising.
  • Second language proficiency.
  • Exposure to higher education settings and experience with J-1 and F-1 regulations including SEVIS.
  • Familiarity with CRM software like Via or Sunapsis.
  • Experience living or working abroad.
