Athletic Trainer Position at Texas A&M International University
Position Overview:
As an Athletic Trainer within the Athletics Department at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas, you will provide expertise in preventing, caring for, and treating athletic injuries. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of TAMIU athletes, collect samples for drug testing, and mentor student athletic trainers. This staff position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Duties:
- Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athlete injuries.
- Prepare athletes for practices and games with taping and bracing.
- Attend and supervise athletic practices and games for safety and emergency care.
- Manage nutritional plans and keep detailed injury records.
- Collaborate with physicians, coaches, and parents on athlete care.
- Assist in the educational support and scheduling of student trainers.
- Maintain your professional certifications and the athletic training facility.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in public relations and fundraising initiatives.
- Ensure NCAA regulation compliance.
- Support sports camps or clinics operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: One year of full-time experience or three years part-time, paid experience as a student trainer.
- Skills: Proficiency in medical and first aid, including physical therapy and joint taping. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
Licensing:
- Must secure a State of Texas License for Athletic Training within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualities:
- Understanding of drug testing procedures and athletic regulations.
- Strong multitasking and cooperative work abilities.
Working Conditions:
- Be prepared for physical activity within an athletic environment.
- Flexible hours may include weekends and travel.
