Description:
The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of Biology for the Fall 2024 semester. This tenure-track position requires teaching introductory and upper-level courses in the biology program. The role also involves regular face-to-face interactions on campus and in the workplace.

TAMIU is a comprehensive regional university, part of The Texas A&M University System, and a designated Hispanic-serving institution. The university has over 8,000 students and offers various degree programs across its colleges and schools.

TAMIU is located in Laredo, Texas, a multicultural city with a population of approximately 250,000.

Requirements:
Candidates must hold a doctorate in Biology or a related field. ABDs (all but dissertation) will be considered, but a completed doctorate is required before appointment. Strong preference will be given to candidates with expertise in ecology, entomology, invertebrate zoology, evolution, and/or population genetics.

Ideal candidates should have a strong commitment to both teaching and research involving undergraduate and graduate students. The ability to secure external funding is desirable. Previous teaching experience, preferably 9 months or more, is preferred, and experience as a teaching assistant will be considered.
