The Program in International Relations at New York University is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in International History. This is a one-year position, starting on September 1, 2024, with the possibility of renewal for up to two more years, subject to approval.
The responsibilities of the role include teaching two graduate-level courses per semester, serving as an academic advisor, supervising theses, and participating in program events. The selected candidate will be expected to teach the Program’s core Global and International History course as well as electives in their research area. Regional experience in the countries of the Global South is of particular interest to the committee.
Applicants must have a PhD in History or a closely related field, as well as a strong record of teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in the classroom and discipline. An active research agenda is highly preferred.

The Program in International Relations is part of NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science and offers the MA in International Relations, which includes elective concentrations in various areas. The Program also has dual degree options with the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.
NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science is a prestigious institution with a global network of students and faculty. The annual base salary for this position is $60,000.
