POSITION OVERVIEW

Location: Devon House, London (Hybrid role – 3 days on campus)
Hours: Monday to Friday (38 hours per week, 9:00-17:30)

Reporting to the Visa & Immigration Compliance Manager, the Visa Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring the University’s compliance with the Student Route of the Points Based System as a sponsor. This role will involve maintaining accurate student and Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) records for visa students studying in the UK. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as at least one year of experience in a visa and immigration role in the UK Higher Education Sector.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CAS ISSUANCE

– Thoroughly review CAS requests and accompanying documents to ensure that only eligible students receive a CAS for a student visa.
– Collaborate with the Immigration Visa Compliance Manager/Senior Visa Compliance Officer and other team members to ensure timely and accurate assignment of CASs.
– Track pending documents for CAS issuance and communicate with students who have accepted offers and paid deposits.
– Obtain regular updates on the progress of student visa applications and obtain copies of granted visas.
– Provide the University with up-to-date lists of students issued with CAS’ on student route visas.
– Alert the Visa & Immigration Compliance Manager of students at risk of failing to meet CAS issuance requirements and provide necessary support or referrals.
– Regularly communicate with students applying for student visas to ensure accurate student records.

VISA COMPLIANCE

– Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure students and offer holders are aware of visa requirements and responsibilities.
– Assist the Visa Compliance Team to ensure full compliance with UKVI sponsorship duties.
– Monitor and evaluate visa student files, conducting regular audit checks to ensure compliance with UKVI requirements.
– Thoroughly review CAS requests and accompanying documents to ensure that only eligible students receive a CAS.
– Work with the Sponsor Management System (SMS) as a Level 2 user to issue CAS.
– Assist with the enrolment and re-enrolment of international students.
– Monitor and report changes in student circumstances to the Visa Compliance Manager.
– Monitor student academic engagement, communicate with students, and compile engagement reports.
– Compile reports and trend data related to visa monitoring and UKVI compliance.
– Maintain and update UKVI compliance information across communication platforms.
– Liaise with staff across the University and Northeastern University to provide relevant information to international students and staff.
– Aid in the review and maintenance of University policies and processes related to Visa and Immigration Compliance.
– Provide basic advice to prospective and registered students related to CAS or visa processes.

OTHER DUTIES

– Perform additional duties commensurate with the level of responsibility and experience.
– Support the Visa & Immigration Compliance Team with relevant checks prior to enrolment.
– Stay up-to-date with Higher Education and Immigration rules and regulations.
– Foster a positive work environment and collaborate with other departments.

– Recent experience issuing CAS, processing student visa applications, and applying UKVI regulations.

Education and Training

– First degree.
