Job Role: International Study and Work Advisor at the University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh’s Study and Work Away Service plays a vital role in offering students and staff international opportunities that enhance global engagement, academic growth, and professional development. This service oversees the administration, case management, and pastoral support for students participating in study exchanges, internships, and other work-abroad programs. As an International Study and Work Advisor, you will work closely with students, supporting them throughout their international journey-from initial planning through to their return. You’ll also collaborate with internal departments and external global partners to ensure the smooth delivery of programs.

This fixed-term, 12-month full-time position, based in Edinburgh with hybrid working arrangements offered, is an outstanding chance for those passionate about international education, student support, and cross-cultural collaboration. The role is graded UE06, with a salary range of £34,132 to £39,355 per annum.

Key Duties

  1. Advisory Support: Provide tailored advice to students planning international activities, ensuring they have a clear understanding of logistical, academic, financial, and cultural considerations.
  2. Case Management: Offer ongoing support and guidance to students throughout the different stages of their international experience. This includes pre-departure, during their time abroad, and upon return.
  3. Pastoral Care: Address the personal well-being of students, assisting with any unexpected challenges they may encounter while abroad.
  4. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal university teams and external international partners to manage processes and improve the student experience.
  5. Data and Administration: Maintain records and contribute to the reporting of activities, ensuring the smooth operation of the Study and Work Away Service.
