Position Summary:
The Supervisor of the International Student Program at San Jose City College reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs. This is a full-time, 12-month classified supervisor position. The role involves planning and implementing strategies to enhance international enrollment, retention, graduation, and transfer, while diversifying the student population and increasing nonresident revenue. The supervisor serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and manages the program budget, student support services, program assessment, strategic partnerships, and reporting.
Nature and Scope:
The Supervisor of the International Student Program is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the program at the college, including supervising staff, managing office operations, implementing strategic initiatives, conducting recruitment activities, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead and direct the International Student Program Department, overseeing recruitment and retention activities.
2. Establish general policies and organize workshops and summer programs.
3. Develop and implement marketing plans targeting specific international markets, including participation in outreach events and recruitment travel.
4. Form and maintain partnerships with external entities to attract qualified international students.
5. Inform international students about financial obligations and the cost of attendance.
6. Collaborate with college departments to ensure health insurance coverage for international students.
7. Serve as the Principal Designated School Official for international student visa holders, issuing necessary federal forms and maintaining records.
8. Support participation in Optional Practical Training (OPT) for international students and ensure compliance with regulations.
9. Facilitate job opportunities for international students, acting as a liaison with community organizations and industry.
10. Maintain accurate records in compliance with federal regulations and district information systems.
11. Manage the International Student Program budget, prioritize needs, and complete annual program reviews and budget requests.
12. Assess student progress and provide reports on student success.
13. Supervise assigned staff, including hiring, training, and evaluation.
14. Attend conferences and seminars to stay updated on immigration regulations and policies.
15. Provide technical expertise and assistance to the Vice President, contributing to policy development and program formulation.
16. Perform other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
2. Three years of relevant experience in an academic setting serving international students, including one year of supervisory experience.
3. Experience working with overseas educational advising partners or agents.

Salary Range:
$102,915 – $131,822 annually (Range S125: Supervisor 2023-2024 Salary Schedule). Starting salary at Step 1.
