University of Plymouth
Here is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Plymouth, a forward-thinking institution located in a beautiful area. By becoming part of our team, you have the chance to make a real impact. We offer excellent career development opportunities for our staff and strive to prioritize our students in everything we do.
As a member of our Student Services department, you will provide valuable support, advice, and guidance to our student population. Our services cover various areas such as mental health and wellbeing, support for students with health conditions or disabilities, faith and spiritual support, financial assistance, international student experience, and disciplinary matters. We are particularly focused on ensuring the success and improvement of students with health conditions or disabilities.
In your role as a member of the Student Services Management Team, you will strategically lead the provision of student support across a wide range of topics and enhance the overall student experience. This includes overseeing our front of house service, known as the ‘Student Hub,’ as well as managing the disability support, international student experience, and student funding and finance teams. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring compliance with regulations and legislation and managing bursaries, scholarships, and financial budgets.
Collaborating closely with faculty staff, you will ensure they are aware of the available student support services and receive appropriate guidance. This may involve providing training, creating online tools for pastoral support, and contributing to policy development.
The ideal candidate for this role may not have previous experience in higher education but should possess strong leadership skills and a drive for innovation and creativity. You will have the opportunity to transform our department’s services and deliver an exceptional student experience. We are seeking candidates with experience in managing high-volume customer service environments and the ability to motivate and lead diverse teams to achieve excellence.
A key aspect of our service is promoting wellbeing and good mental health. Therefore, in addition to effectively leading and managing the service, you should have a genuine passion for wellbeing and the ability to incorporate it into our service delivery. This means ensuring our services meet the needs of students and support them during crucial moments in the academic year or when challenges arise.
We are looking for someone who is skilled at problem-solving and strategic planning, with the ability to work on projects outside of their specific area of responsibility or expertise. You should be comfortable and composed when working under pressure and demonstrate excellent teamwork skills.
