Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 (38 hours per week)

The Student Life Manager (Mobility) is responsible, along with other role holders, for delivering London student mobility programs assigned to this role. These programs typically include first-year international programs such as the London Scholars and Global Scholars provided by Northeastern University.
The Student Life Manager should have a working knowledge of international students and mobility/study abroad programs. They should also have a broad understanding of the various elements that contribute to the overall experience of a mobility student in London, including program administration, Student Life, Residence Life, and Student Support and Development. This position requires collaboration with all departments across the University, including program directors, faculty, students, and professional services. The post holder will work closely with staff at Northeastern across the global network, primarily based in Boston and Oakland.
The Student Life Manager (Mobility) should possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail. The post holder should be patient, flexible, and proactive, and should thrive in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for program operations, ensuring that students have the best possible experience during their time in London. The post holder should be able to work independently as well as part of the wider teams servicing London student mobility programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
– Serve as a key contact for the delivery of London student mobility programs, coordinating with Northeastern GEO office and London departments.
– Ensure compliance with program requirements, including service level agreement delivery, advising on program procedures and administration.
– Lead the planning for London student mobility programs, creating detailed project plans covering all aspects of services provided.
– Maintain awareness of all aspects of London student mobility programs, including operational, resourcing, academic, and student services.
– Coordinate and chair various meetings, providing regular updates and progress reports during all stages of London student mobility programs.
– Provide line management for assigned personnel in the Student Life Team, including Student Life Coordinators.
– Lead debrief sessions and follow up on agreed action plans based on student feedback.
– Organize Welcome weeks, events, and activities, managing the budget.
– Collaborate with the wider Student Life team to integrate mobility students into the London campus community.
– Represent the University at partner-hosted events related to London student mobility programs, including pre-departure orientations and online presentations.
– Oversee co-curricular and extracurricular activities and mobility events, in accordance with approved budgets.
– Plan and approve regular communications to students, including newsletters, social media posts, and announcements.
– Provide guidance on available resources, policies, and procedures to students and colleagues.
– Support short summer programs and work with the Head of Student Life to ensure proper support and resources.
– Foster a positive work environment with a strong team spirit, prioritizing the student experience.
– Undertake additional duties as required.
Person Specification Criteria (Essential / Desirable)
– Appropriate qualifications and experience in a similar leadership and management role.
– Experience in project management.
– Proven budget management experience.
– Experience with mobility programs and international students, including U.S. students.
– Experience in nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including partner universities.
– Experience coordinating and leading a diverse team in a fast-paced environment, with responsibility for staff development.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Adobe, PowerPoint, and video conferencing platforms.
– Ability to engage confidently with academic and professional communities and participate in engagement activities.
– Good overall knowledge of the on-the-ground experience of a mobility student in London.
