We are currently seeking a Spanish Year Abroad Officer for our BSc International Management & Modern Languages (IMML) programme.

The IMML programme is offered jointly by the School of Management and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and is a four-year programme where the third year is spent in a Spanish-speaking country. During this year, students are given the opportunity to either take up a full-time work placement or pursue a combination of study at a Spanish-speaking business school followed by a shorter placement.

The successful candidate will be part of the School of Management’s Placements Team and will be responsible for IMML Spanish students by ensuring that services are efficient, effective and adaptable. The team will report to the Head of Placements, Projects and International Studies and the IMML Year Abroad Manager. The role will also involve collaborating with the IMML French and German Year Abroad Officers, the International Relations Manager, as well as other undergraduate Placement Officers.

The duties include managing the recruitment process for employers and students, developing placement opportunities, working with peer institutions to provide exchanges, maintaining existing exchanges with Spanish and Latin American universities, observing local and university regulations and procedures, and developing common systems and standardised processes on best practices. There will also be daily communication with academic staff, students, and current/potential employers in Spanish, so fluency in spoken and written Spanish is necessary.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the UK and Spanish, Latin American higher education systems, work experience in Spanish-speaking countries, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
