Job Overview: National Programme Manager for NHS SHARE, University of Dundee

The University of Dundee is seeking a dynamic National Programme Manager to oversee NHS SHARE – a vital health research initiative in Scotland. This role is based within the University’s School of Medicine and involves leading a flagship project in the health and medical field, particularly focused on the Population Health and Genomics sector. If you have a passion for advancing health research and want to manage efforts to build a volunteer register of up to one million participants aiding healthcare research in Scotland, this is the perfect opportunity to make a significant impact.

As a National Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient daily management of NHS SHARE, raising its profile among the research community in Scotland and internationally. This position, initially fixed-term until March 31, 2026, offers the potential for annual extensions, dependent on project success. The role encompasses developing and executing marketing campaigns, forging research community relationships, and maintaining project policies in line with ethics and quality assurance standards.

Application Advice: International Education Perspective

  1. Understand the Cultural Context: Familiarize yourself with Scotland’s health research landscape and the role of the University of Dundee in this sector. Emphasize any experience you have with similar health research registers in your home country or internationally.
  1. Highlight Relevant Experience: Clearly articulate your project management experience, especially within clinical research settings. Describe your capacity for managing large teams and projects and any international projects you have led that align with SHARE’s objectives.
  1. Showcase Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Given the need to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including industry, public, and academic sectors, highlight any international partnerships or communications roles you’ve held.
  1. Research UK Health Standards: As the role requires aligning project standards with ethics and quality assurance, studying UK and Scottish health research regulations will demonstrate your preparedness and adaptability to local standards.
  1. Visa and Sponsorship Limitation: Note the restriction on UKVI sponsorship for migrant workers. If you are an international applicant, explore other visa options or internships that might support your application. Consider consulting with immigration experts for advice.
  1. Commitment to Ongoing Learning: Convey your willingness to engage in continuous professional development and stay updated on global health research trends, which will contribute to the growth and success of NHS SHARE.
