Position: Senior Transport Analyst

Type: Fixed-term, with the possibility of extension for 3 years

Summary:

Imperial College London’s Transport Strategy Centre (TSC) requires a Senior Transport Analyst (equal to Senior Transport Consultant/Planner) to join their team. The TSC is a group of 30 friendly professionals dedicated to high-quality benchmarking of global public transport that provides advice and recommendations to transport providers and other stakeholders. The role requires managing, analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting data from member organizations around the world. You will gain unique knowledge of worldwide public transport operations and management at both a technical and strategic level.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage transport performance-related datasets, like KPIs, with exceptional data management
  • Summarize large quantities of diverse qualitative and quantitative information from transport providers
  • Independently deliver projects, managing small projects responsibly
  • Comprehend strengths, opportunities, risks and key purposes of public transport providers for international performance benchmarking
  • Attend necessary meetings overseas with public transport providers
  • Contribute to benchmarking group coordination, development, and enhancement with a focus on data management, analysis, visualization, and interpretation

Requirements:

  • Education in a discipline with significant numerate content, like Transport, Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related sector, preferably to a Master’s Degree level (or equivalent)
  • Experience or research in the transport industry in fields like planning, economics, operations, engineering, technology, regulation, and safety
  • Experience in owning/managing datasets and/or utilizing quantitative analysis tools/methods
  • In-depth working knowledge and/or understanding of the public transport industry globally and in the UK
  • Excellent analytical skills with evidence-based insight and conclusions from datasets and information
  • Good Excel or another spreadsheet software skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good collaboration skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Ready to travel for short durations worldwide (possibly subject to travel restrictions)
