**About Us:**

The Earth Observation and Wildfire Research Group at King’s College London is at the forefront of geographic and environmental research. We specialize in leveraging satellite data, remote sensing technologies, simulation modeling, and innovative instrumentation both in labs and the field. Our unique Wildfire Testing Combustion Chamber is just one of the cutting-edge facilities enabling our groundbreaking research in fire dynamics and emissions.

**About the Role:**

We invite passionate and resourceful individuals, especially those with an international background in environmental science, to apply for the position of Environmental Science Instrument Technician. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a diverse and interdisciplinary team at the National Centre for Earth Observation. You will primarily be based in our facility in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, but the role also includes exciting opportunities for fieldwork both in the UK and abroad.

**International Application Advice:**

1. **Qualifications:**
– Assess if your educational qualifications are equivalent to a UK HNC/HND. Credential evaluation services can assist in confirming equivalent educational levels.

2. **Experience:**
– Highlight your international lab or fieldwork experience, especially if it involves environmental science or technical roles.

3. **Technical Skills:**
– If you have experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, CAD, or scientific instruments, emphasize these areas. International experience in Python coding, remote sensing, or aircraft operations is also valuable.

4. **Driving Licence:**
– As a full UK driving licence is essential, international applicants should start the process of obtaining a UK licence if successful. Temporary international driving permits may be required initially.

5. **Health and Safety:**
– Familiarize yourself with UK/EU health and safety regulations. If you hold a First Aid Certificate, indicate its validity in the UK or your willingness to acquire a UK certificate.

6. **Adaptability and Learning:**
– Express your enthusiasm for learning new skills and adapting to technical tasks related to instrumentation.

7. **Cultural and Professional Integration:**
– Showcase your ability to work independently and within multicultural teams, and any experience you have adapting to new cultural or professional environments.

8. **Application Process:**
– International candidates should ensure their visa or work permit eligibility. King’s College London may provide support for the visa application process if needed.

By following these guidelines, international applicants can effectively demonstrate their value and readiness to join our research group, bringing a global perspective to our cutting-edge environmental research
