### The Role
The appointed individual will be accountable for developing and managing the day-to-day operations of a proactive Student Advice service, collaborating closely with the Senior Student Advisor (Money & Funding). Key responsibilities include handling specialized case work related to international students, their Student visas, Fee Status assessments, and other matters affecting their right to study at UWL and their overall experience in London (including eVisas, digital statuses, and the EU Settlement Scheme, as well as accommodation and financial issues). While core knowledge of Student visas is crucial, familiarity with other visa routes like the Graduate Route, Skilled Worker, and Youth Mobility Scheme visas will be advantageous, especially during webinars on post-study immigration options co-hosted with our Careers Service. Additionally, you will support Student Advisors with complex cases and student inquiries, leveraging your expertise to suggest effective solutions.
The role also entails working with the Head of Student Money & Immigration Advice to develop initiatives aimed at improving communication and fostering engagement with the student community, Schools/Colleges, and Central Services departments. This will help enhance the understanding and utilization of the services provided by the team and Student Services as a whole.
Flexibility in working hours is essential as the role occasionally requires weekend and evening coverage. While primarily based at our St. Mary’s Road campus, the position involves providing cover at our Brentford site once or twice a week.
### The Person

Exceptional administrative and time management skills are essential, alongside a proven ability to manage and supervise a team. You must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, advocacy, and customer service skills, with substantial case work experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with both students and staff.
Experience in higher education is required, along with extensive knowledge of UKVI regulations and immigration rules related to the Student visa route. Proficiency in IT is also crucial, as you will need to use IT systems to record and report a variety of confidential matters within Student Services. A flexible approach to work is a key requirement for this role.
