The Position
As a Senior Research Analyst, your deep-seated passion for Southeast Asia will be of immense value. You will be our expert in Southeast Asian politics, economy, and culture. You will be consulting government leaders to shape policy and build strong relationships with academics, think tanks, and other commentators. You will conduct research, prepare papers, deliver presentations, and share your knowledge across the FCDO. You will regularly visit the region to keep up with the latest developments while providing valuable assistance during government-led exchanges with allies.
Your Profile
You should possess a university degree and prior experience working in Southeast Asia, such as in a non-governmental organization (NGO), multilateral organization, private enterprise, or academic institution. It is crucial that you are an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, and an inspiration for others. You must have an in-depth understanding of Thailand’s and/or Myanmar’s political structures and a broad understanding of the region’s dynamics. You must have strong research and analytical skills, sound judgement, and a strategic mindset to help us deepen our ties with the region for the benefit of Southeast Asia and the UK.
