Buckinghamshire New University

Job Role Overview

Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) is a forward-thinking, dynamic institution with a focus on innovation, empowerment, and inclusivity. We are seeking a talented International Student Recruitment Officer to represent BNU in key global markets. This is a role dedicated to increasing our university’s international student enrollment by managing and developing relationships with local agents, creating targeted recruitment strategies, and representing BNU at events and through digital initiatives. The successful candidate will play a vital role in strengthening BNU’s international reputation while building a sustainable pipeline of diverse and high-caliber students at all levels of study.

Your key responsibilities will include collaborating with the Regional Manager to deliver effective recruitment plans and identifying new opportunities in designated regions (with a preference for those with expertise in Europe, Central, or Southeast Asia). If you’re someone with a passion for global engagement, exceptional relationship-building skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to work proactively in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding and impactful position.

Advice for International Education Professionals Applying to the Role

  1. Demonstrate Global Market Knowledge: To excel as an international recruiter, it’s vital to showcase your understanding of the global education landscape. Highlight your experience in analyzing trends within specific regions (e.g., Southeast Asia, Europe) and how your expertise has contributed to successful student recruitment in these territories.
  1. Emphasize Relationship Management Skills: One of the key aspects of this role is building and nurturing relationships with recruitment agents, partners, and students. Provide examples of your ability to develop long-term collaborations, foster trust, and communicate effectively across cultures.
  1. Prove Your Proactiveness: BNU is a fast-moving, dynamic institution seeking individuals who can independently identify new opportunities for growth and develop innovative initiatives. Showcase your ability to spot market potential, execute solutions, and drive results.
  1. Understand BNU’s Values: The University’s DRIVE values (Dynamic, Responsible, Inclusive, Visionary, and Empowering) are central to their operations. Incorporate these values into your application, describing how you embody them in your professional activities.
  1. Highlight a Passion for Internationalization: This role requires a global mindset. Include your experience with international projects or education systems, intercultural communication, and capabilities to meet the diverse needs of prospective students from different cultural backgrounds.
  1. Be Results-Driven: BNU seeks individuals who can deliver measurable results. Point to specific data-driven recruitment campaigns, examples of meeting or exceeding enrollment targets, or innovative strategies you’ve implemented in prior positions.
  1. Consider the Practical Requirements: As this is a UK-based role, make sure to confirm your eligibility to work within the UK. For instance, international applicants who need work authorization should realistically assess visa requirements when submitting their application.
  1. Personalize Your Application: Address your application to the specific role and institution. Research BNU thoroughly and tailor your covering letter to emphasize your alignment with their mission, values, and international strategy.

Application and Benefits Overview

Not only does this role present an exciting opportunity to contribute to a globally-focused recruitment strategy, but BNU also offers a range of benefits for the successful candidate, including:

  • 30 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays and closure days.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements (business needs permitting).
  • Training and professional development opportunities to support career growth.
  • A contributory pension scheme for financial security.
  • Additional perks, including discounted memberships to the on-site gym and staff discounts with retailers.
