UCL
**About Us**
UCL Global Engagement (GE) is dedicated to transforming UCL’s knowledge into real-world applications by fostering impactful global partnerships aimed at societal improvement. Our team of highly skilled professionals excels in delivering top-notch support for global research and education initiatives to academics. We specialize in developing and managing international partnerships, and provide expertise in geopolitical analysis, global communications, strategic planning, and operations.
**About the Role**
We are looking for a Senior Global Engagement Manager (SGEM) to lead our Africa and Middle East (AME) portfolio within the Global Engagement team. The SGEM will offer strategic and practical guidance to Faculties, Professional Services, and senior leadership to enhance UCL’s global partnerships and engagement efforts.
In this capacity, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the AME region’s higher education and research environment, becoming a vital source of expertise. You’ll assist academics and teams in navigating the cultural, technical, and regulatory challenges of international collaboration, aiming to broaden the global impact of UCL’s research and educational initiatives.
Furthermore, you’ll serve as a vital link between UCL and external organizations, reducing collaboration barriers and identifying opportunities for meaningful partnerships. Building proactive relationships with internal academic departments and external stakeholders, including universities, governments, and embassies, will be key to your role.
This position presents an exciting opportunity to shape new strategic priorities in a diverse and expanding region.
**About You**
To thrive in this role, you should possess in-depth knowledge of higher education internationalization, especially in Africa and the Middle East. Extensive experience in independently developing and executing influential global educational partnerships in these areas is crucial, as is the capability to autonomously manage complex projects. Strong analytical skills, along with the ability to create strategic reports and proposals, are essential. You must also be able to meet or exceed objectives in a fast-paced setting.
The ideal candidate will be culturally and politically astute, highly motivated to work collaboratively, and committed to achieving results. A willingness to travel and occasionally work outside standard hours is necessary.
While a relevant postgraduate degree, project management qualifications, and experience in drafting agreements and managing risks are desirable, they are not mandatory. Experience living or working outside the UK and fluency in a relevant language are advantageous.
**What We Offer**
Along with the exciting opportunities this role provides, we offer excellent benefits, including 41 days of holiday (inclusive of closure days and bank holidays). Additional details can be found on our website
