Queen Mary University of London
**About the Role**
Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) stands as a global institution, with a significant portion of its research portfolio dedicated to international collaboration. The university is distinguished by the extensive scope of its international partnerships, diverse funding sources, and the profound worldwide impact of its research and innovations. Enhancing international research collaboration is a key focus of the University Strategy 2030.
The International Research and Innovation Team, housed within QMUL’s Joint Research and Management Office, oversees the development of international research partnerships and bids, ensures research security and compliance, and provides pre- and post-award support for EU and global research collaborations across all three university faculties. With international collaborations being both dynamic and complex, and given the increasing attention from governments and funders regarding national security, we are seeking a Research Security and Compliance Manager. This individual will lead a team focused on identifying and mitigating risks associated with international collaboration, enhancing compliance with UK legislation and funder requirements.
**About You**
In this vital and evolving role within the university’s international research landscape, you will support the Head of International Research and Innovation in crafting policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with UK Export Control and security legislation and monitor security compliance in global research collaborations. Part of the JRMO management team, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop the Research Security team, providing guidance to faculties on case due diligence, export licensing applications, and NSI notifications, as well as developing training concerning risks in international research. Although primarily focused on international research, your role may also extend to other areas such as education and technology commercialisation, where relevant international collaboration issues may arise. You will collaborate with colleagues across Professional Service teams, including the Global Engagement Office, Academic Registry, Business Development, and QM Innovation.
