**Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI)**

Stanford University’s CISAC at FSI has been a pioneering research center addressing the complex interface of science, technology, and international security. **POSITION SUMMARY:**

**Duty and Responsibility Breakdown:**

– **40%**: Undertake individual and collaborative policy-relevant research on international security.
– **30%**: Co-teach the CISAC undergraduate honors seminar, aiding Stanford seniors from diverse fields to develop honors theses in international security.
– **15%**: Teach a course in the Stanford Master’s in International Policy program or co-teach one of CISAC’s undergraduate survey courses.
– **5%**: Mentor postdoctoral fellows and Stanford undergraduate and graduate students with related research interests.
– **10%**: Collaborate closely with Center Directors, researchers, and faculty across Stanford to advance excellence in international security.

**CORE DUTIES:**

The five-year fixed-term Research Scholar, expected to remain in residence and actively participate in Center activities throughout the academic year, will:

– Conduct policy-relevant research on international security, individually and collaboratively.
– Co-teach the CISAC undergraduate honors seminar.
– Teach or co-teach courses in the Stanford Master’s in International Policy program or CISAC’s undergraduate survey courses.
– Mentor postdoctoral fellows and students.
– Collaborate with Center Directors, researchers, and faculty to promote international security excellence at Stanford.

**QUALIFICATIONS / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**

**REQUIRED:**

– Expertise in international security with demonstrated analytical and policy-relevant research capacity in areas such as nuclear security, digital security, biosecurity, and environmental security.
– A Ph.D. in a relevant social science, science, or engineering discipline.
– An excellent publication record or evidence of outstanding potential in research and teaching.
– Strong conceptual and analytic skills with a proven ability to independently design and develop research programs, courses, and outreach.
– Experience teaching undergraduate courses is a plus.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 – $125,000 per annum.
