We are looking to appoint a Programme Officer to join the Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI) Policy and Practice Research Group at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. This research group conducts applied research to aid policy stakeholders and funders in enhancing policy development and evidence-based decision-making concerning infectious diseases, with a particular focus on low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs).
The PSI Policy and Practice Research Group is led by Dr. Alice Norton, the Principal Investigator for this project. The Programme Officer’s role will be overseen and directed by Daniela Toale, the Programme Manager.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with the Programme Manager and colleagues within the PSI Policy & Practice research group. You will also maintain strong working relationships with collaborators, consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure the efficient operational and financial management of the group. Your responsibilities will include assisting the Programme Manager in updating the programme plan and project management tools and supporting financial and technical reporting to funders. Additionally, you will manage domestic and international travel arrangements for research group members, coordinate with administrative staff as required, and organize meetings, calls, and events, including preparing agendas and taking minutes when necessary.
To succeed in this role, you should have an A-level education or equivalent, coupled with experience in administration or project management. You must possess excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to identify potential issues and offer solutions, and strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). You should also be willing and able to contribute to innovative ways of working and support the management of projects and research programs.
