The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring these programmes continue to uphold LSE’s academic excellence while meeting the growing demands of a competitive, international education market. This role combines leadership, operational management, and collaboration with various stakeholders, including LSE academics, the University of London, 2U (LSE’s digital learning partner), and a network of global Teaching Centres.
The position also plays a vital role in LSE’s broader educational mission, as income from these programmes provides critical funds to support the university’s world-class research and teaching activities. With direct responsibility for managing a team, the post holder will oversee initiatives to enhance programme quality, improve student experiences, and drive academic and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management, delivery, and strategic development of the EMFSS programmes.
- Provide leadership and line management for two programme staff, fostering their professional growth.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external partners, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with objectives.
- Lead on enhancement projects and strategic initiatives to improve programme delivery and quality.
- Ensure programmes remain academically rigorous, relevant to market demands, and student-focused.
What We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate should have:
- Proven experience in programme or project management within higher education or similarly complex environments.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, including experience in staff development.
- The ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, including course design and development cycles.
- A proactive, detail-oriented, and team-driven mindset, with a commitment to personal and professional development.
Why Join LSE?
LSE offers a highly competitive salary (£42,679-£51,000 per annum, with potential to progress to £54,730) inclusive of the London allowance. Additional benefits include:
- A generous pension scheme.
- Substantial annual leave allowance.
- Access to training and development opportunities to support career growth.
The job offers a hybrid working arrangement, balancing office-based and remote work depending on programme cycles. This arrangement includes three office-based days per week (or four during peak periods, such as exam seasons).
Advice for Applicants (from an International Education Perspective):
- Understand the Global Reach of the Role:
This role is ideal for candidates who appreciate the broader impact of education on global communities. - Highlight Relevant Experience:
Focus on specific examples of educational programme management, especially those that involve large-scale or globally distributed operations. Highlight any experience with digital or blended learning environments, as LSE’s partnership with 2U emphasizes the integration of technology in education.
