Position Overview: Programme Lead for International Business (Online Education)
The University of Greenwich is seeking an experienced academic to join its dynamic team as a Programme Lead within its growing online education portfolio. This essential role offers the opportunity to shape the future of online higher education and help deliver high-quality international business programmes that support and empower students in their academic journeys.

As a Programme Lead, you will oversee the design, delivery, and management of a specific online programme. Your responsibilities will include leading the first module, managing module leads, ensuring curriculum quality, enhancing the student experience, and driving effective student recruitment. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Greenwich Online and other faculties to deliver impactful and inclusive education.

Please note that this is a phased role: starting at 0.3 full-time equivalent (FTE) in September 2023, increasing to 0.7 FTE in September 2026, and converting into a full-time position in January 2027. While this role is largely remote, four annual on-campus meetings at the University of Greenwich are required, and travel costs for these visits are the responsibility of the postholder.

Why Apply?
This position offers an exciting chance to play a key leadership role in the development of innovative online learning experiences. The University of Greenwich is committed to advancing modern education, with a strategic goal of becoming the UK’s top modern university by 2030. As an employee, you’ll benefit from generous pensions, holiday entitlement, hybrid working opportunities, and robust professional development pathways. The university embraces values of inclusivity, collaboration, and impact, with strong commitments to diversity, equity, and mental health support.

Advice for Applicants: An International Education Perspective
If you’re an experienced academic in international business with expertise in programme design and online teaching, this role is a fantastic opportunity to hone your leadership skills while contributing to an ambitious and forward-thinking institution. To maximize your chances of success, consider the following tips:

  1. Demonstrate Online Teaching Expertise: Clearly showcase your professional experience with fully online programmes, including examples of how you’ve contributed to the design and delivery of courses that engage and empower learners. Highlight familiarity with digital learning technologies and innovative practices that enhance the online student experience.
  1. Address Global Perspectives: As the programme focuses on international business, emphasize your ability to incorporate diverse, global perspectives into the curriculum. Discuss your understanding of cultural variations in online pedagogy and design strategies for inclusivity, especially if you’ve taught or worked in multicultural environments.
  1. Be Solutions-Oriented with Quality Assurance: Highlight your understanding of regulatory and policy requirements for higher education delivery, such as those set by UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards. Provide examples of how you’ve successfully addressed challenges in ensuring compliance, student satisfaction, and programme quality.
  1. Highlight Leadership Skills: Detail your experience motivating and managing teams, collaborating across departments and institutions, and driving programme success. If applicable, share examples of how you’ve supported international educators or coordinated transnational initiatives.
  1. Consider Logistics: Carefully evaluate the remote nature of the role and the requirement to attend on-campus meetings four times a year. If you’re applying internationally, ensure you understand visa sponsorship details and any financial implications for travel.
