**Job Description**
**Job Summary:**
TAMIU-LBV Literacy Partnership tutors collaborate with public schools as literacy tutors. Employment is dependent on funding and ongoing approval by the partner school.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**
– Design and implement personalized lessons for students facing reading difficulties.
– Maintain accurate records for each student.
– Ensure the efficient functioning and positive environment of each tutoring center.
– Provide assistance and guidance to new tutors.
**Minimum Requirements:**
– **Education:** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
– **Experience:** Prior experience as an elementary literacy tutor or teacher (or related field).
– Candidates must not be currently enrolled as undergraduates at TAMIU.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
– Excellent interpersonal skills.
– Familiarity with effective literacy intervention strategies.
– Ability to maintain confidentiality.
– Serve as a strong role model for the English language.
**Other Information:**
– This position is temporary, based on funding and/or need as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding between TAMIU and the school district for the literacy partnership.
– A TB test administered by the Partnership district is required before engaging with school children.
– Reliable transportation is necessary from Monday to Friday during school hours.
– The role involves face-to-face interactions.
– Regular attendance at the workplace is mandatory.
**Pay Rate:** $11.35/hour for up to 19 hours per week
