**Job Description**
**Overview:**
As a Literacy Partnership Tutor for TAMIU-LBV, you will contribute to the development of literacy skills among students by working directly in public schools. This position is dependent on the availability of funding and the ongoing approval of the partner school.
**Key Responsibilities:**
– Develop and deliver customized lessons for students experiencing difficulties with reading.
– Maintain detailed records for each student’s progress.
– Ensure the tutoring center is organized and provides a supportive learning environment.
– Offer guidance and assistance to newly appointed tutors.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
– **Education:** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
– **Experience:** Prior experience in teaching or tutoring literacy at the elementary level, or equivalent.
– **Other Requirements:** Must not be an undergraduate student currently enrolled at TAMIU.
**Skills and Competencies:**
– Proficient in verbal and written communication.
– Strong interpersonal skills.
– Understanding of effective literacy intervention strategies.
– Ability to uphold confidentiality.
– Exemplary command of the English language.
**Additional Information:**
– The role is temporary and contingent upon the needs and funding as outlined in TAMIU’s agreement with the school district for the literacy partnership.
– Must complete a TB test as mandated by the Partnership district before interacting with schoolchildren.
– Reliable transportation is required for weekday school hours.
– The job involves direct, in-person engagement and maintaining consistent attendance.
**Compensation:**
$11.35 per hour, up to 19 hours per week.
