The Principal Immigration Specialist at Purdue University is responsible for leveraging their expertise in immigration law, procedure, policies, and agencies to support and streamline the International Scholar Services team’s services and compliance responsibilities. This individual will use their extensive experience in the immigration services industry to recommend and implement strategies that enhance the team’s efficiency and transparency.
Responsibilities include:
– Assisting the Director in developing service strategies for Purdue affiliates and research agreements
– Providing specialist contributions to in-team mentorship, peer review, and training
– Handling a heavy caseload of employment-based permanent residence and/or complex nonimmigrant visa requests
Requirements:
– Submission of a cover letter for full consideration
– Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
– Eight years of professional experience in employment-based immigration services
– U.S. Citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status
– Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment and achieve goals under pressure
– Excellent communication, organization, and data entry skills
Preferred qualifications include a JD/LLB or comparable legal education, four years of professional experience in employment-based immigration services, prior use of an immigration forms-case management database, experience in a higher education environment, and familiarity with “adjective-based” employment-based immigration processes.
