**Role Summary:**

As a member of the Birmingham Business School (BBS) Careers team, reporting to the Undergraduate (UG) Careers Consultant, you will manage and deliver placement, internship, and career support services for BBS undergraduate students both on-campus and internationally. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement programs that enhance placement and internship outcomes for students in the UK, Singapore, and Dubai. This will involve close collaboration with academic and professional staff in the fields of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, and Strategy & International Business. A significant part of your role will involve assisting students in securing year-long placements as part of four-year Year in Industry degrees.

You will work closely with the Business School’s careers service, as well as the wider College of Social Sciences (CoSS) and the University careers team (Careers Network), to provide comprehensive career support to undergraduate Business School students. Utilizing your expertise in graduate recruitment, the graduate labor market, employment sectors, and the career aspirations of business students, you will deliver services that enhance employability skills and foster engagement among employers, academics, student groups, and alumni, both domestically and internationally.

**Main Duties:**

– Provide advice and guidance to students (individually and in groups, both online and in-person) on the application process, including CVs, application forms, assessment centers, interviews, and selection tests.
– Conduct career-related workshops to prepare students for placements and graduate jobs, and help them reflect on their experiences.
– Promote career opportunities and benefits to students through various media, including flyers, presentations, documents, videos, and online platforms.
– Advise students on application processes and placement requirements, offering a point of contact during their placements and providing feedback to employers post-placement.
– Represent BBS to prospective employers, seeking new placement and internship opportunities nationally and internationally. Collaborate with employers regarding campus recruitment events, ensuring employer needs are met and events are well-communicated across BBS, CoSS, and UoB.
– Monitor the suitability of existing placement opportunities, ensuring employers understand their responsibilities to students and vice versa, while maintaining long-term employer relationships.

**Person Specification:**

– Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
– Experience working in a placements or internship team within Higher Education.
– Experience in direct collaboration with employers to deliver placement or internship opportunities.
– In-house recruitment experience is advantageous.
– Strong interpersonal, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
– Skills in counseling, guidance, and/or coaching.
– Demonstrable event and project management skills.
– Exceptional attention to detail and customer service abilities.
– Experience in producing, interpreting, and presenting management information.
