**Role Summary**

Join the Birmingham Business School Careers team, reporting to the Careers Consultant for Undergraduates, as you take charge of providing placement, internship, and career support for BBS undergraduate students both on-campus and abroad. Your role involves designing and implementing programs to enhance placement and internship outcomes for students in the UK, Singapore, and Dubai. Collaborating with academic and professional staff in disciplines such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, and Strategy & International Business, you will significantly contribute to supporting students in securing year-long placements as part of their four-year Year in Industry degrees.

You will liaise with the Business School careers service and the broader College of Social Sciences and University careers team (Careers Network) to deliver effective career support. By leveraging your knowledge of graduate recruitment, labor markets, and employment sectors, you will provide a service that boosts the employability of our students while engaging employers, academics, student groups, and alumni both locally and internationally.

**Main Duties**

– Advise and support students, individually or in groups, both online and in person, on the application process including CVs, application forms, assessment centers, interviews, and selection tests.
– Conduct workshops to prepare students for placements and graduate jobs, and help them reflect on their experiences.
– Promote opportunities and benefits to students through various media, including flyers, presentations, documents, videos, and online content.
– Guide students on application processes and placement requirements, acting as a primary contact during placements and providing feedback to employers afterward.
– Represent BBS to prospective employers, seek new opportunities domestically and internationally, and coordinate employer visits to campus for recruitment events, ensuring the needs of employers, students, and staff are met through a collaborative approach across BBS, CoSS, and UoB.
– Monitor the suitability of existing placement opportunities, ensuring mutual awareness of the responsibilities of both employers and students, and maintain long-term relationships with employers.

**Person Specification**

– Educated to a degree level or possessing equivalent experience.
– Experience working in a placements or internship team within Higher Education.
– Proven experience in working directly with employers to deliver placement or internship opportunities.
– Experience in in-house recruitment is advantageous.
– Excellent interpersonal, organizational, negotiation, and communication abilities.
– Skills in counseling, guidance, and/or coaching.
– Outstanding event and/or project management skills.
– Exceptional attention to detail and customer service proficiency.
– Experience in creating, interpreting, and presenting management information.
