If you’re passionate about higher education and enjoy playing a vital role in supporting students throughout their academic journey, this position could be a great fit.

As an Admissions Officer, you’ll be responsible for assessing and processing postgraduate and professional course applications. You’ll ensure that applicants-both from the UK and overseas-receive accurate, timely, and student-centered responses at every stage of the application process. A key goal of this role is to create a seamless, efficient applicant experience while helping the University maximize the conversion of applications into enrollments.

This is an agile working role, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on the Aston University main campus. Aston is based in Birmingham, a city rich in culture and diversity, with excellent transport links.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to prospective students from varying backgrounds and nationalities.
  • Support a smooth application process, addressing inquiries and resolving issues proactively.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the University’s strategic goals for student recruitment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in higher education, ideally in admissions, student recruitment, or marketing.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively connect with applicants from the UK and internationally.
  • A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
  • Familiarity with diverse cultural and educational contexts to support international applicants.

Why Join Aston University?
Aston University values its staff and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • 30 days of bookable annual leave, plus 13 additional days for bank holidays and University closure.
  • Flexible and agile working options to support work-life balance.
  • Accessible campus, with excellent transport links and a cycle-to-work scheme.

The University is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusivity-values that shape both its workplace culture and recruitment process.

Advice for Applicants (From an International Education Perspective):

  1. Tailor Your Application: Emphasize any prior experience you have with international student engagement. Highlight your ability to navigate different cultural and educational systems-experience that demonstrates you can effectively support Aston University’s diverse applicant base.
  1. Showcase Attention to Detail: Admissions roles require precision. Showcase any experience where you’ve handled data, processed applications, or successfully managed tasks requiring high levels of accuracy.
  1. Highlight Multicultural Competence: If you’ve worked with international students or have language skills, be sure to include this in your application. Show your ability to help create a welcoming environment for applicants who are new to studying abroad.
  1. Demonstrate Technological Proficiency: Make sure to highlight any expertise with admissions systems, CRM platforms, or other software used in higher education environments. If you’re not yet familiar, stress your ability to learn quickly.
