As the Operations and Events Manager, you will oversee our International Arrival Support services, warmly welcoming thousands of new students annually. Collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders, you’ll ensure all facets of the service cater to our international students’ needs.
You’ll also lead a small team that provides operational support to deliver a vibrant array of welcome activities, community-building events, and intercultural experiences for students. Responsibilities include managing logistical and financial processes, as well as overseeing the recruitment, training, and supervision of 60 student ambassadors. Beyond managing Arrival Support services, you’ll have the chance to spearhead other smaller-scale events and projects throughout the year.
This is a challenging role with competing priorities, demanding strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. It offers the satisfaction of significantly impacting students and enhancing their sense of belonging at Leeds.
Candidates should possess experience in managing complex events or projects and be skilled in forecasting, managing budgets, and handling purchasing processes. The role requires collaboration with University colleagues to ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, GDPR, and financial regulations.
Be prepared for some out-of-hours work, early shifts, and up to 10 consecutive days during the main 3-week arrival period in September, with shorter shifts during January and July.
