FIU’s Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) is part of the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) and is now accepting applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position in Computational Thermo-Fluid Mechanics, starting in Fall 2024. The ideal candidate will have research interests in the broad field of Computational Thermo-Fluids analysis and design, with potential applications in energy systems, biology, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing, including micro- and nano-fluidics, hypersonics, and multiphase flows. The successful applicant will be expected to collaborate with ongoing research programs and align with the department’s, college’s, and university’s strategic priorities. They should also demonstrate the ability to develop an innovative and collaborative research program while contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring in the MME department. The candidate should emphasize mentorship, collegiality, multidisciplinarity, and scholarship.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field. They should have a record of scholarly work commensurate with their rank and demonstrate a commitment to teaching a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate students in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates should also have a proven track record or potential to secure external funding for research programs with international recognition. Collaboration with MME faculty and other departments within the CEC and FIU is expected. The MME department is involved in various large-scale research projects in collaboration with multiple universities and principal investigators.
