Overview:

The Manager for Group Programs and Business Development is responsible for overseeing group English language and cultural immersion programs for Deakin University English Language Institute’s (DUELI) university, government, and private partners. The role involves developing and nurturing partnerships, as well as providing comprehensive support for students and partners before and after their arrival at Deakin.

As a member of the DUELI leadership team, this position contributes to the university’s goal of internationalization by maximizing opportunities for international students to engage in rewarding study experiences at Deakin.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing plans and cultivating relationships with agents and partner institutions to foster growth in DUELI’s group programs
  • Creating proposals for various short-term online and inbound DUELI study programs, with the aim of recruiting students from key student markets
  • Ensuring that all aspects of student support, such as accommodations, welfare arrangements, airport transfers, out-of-class excursions, welcome ceremonies, and graduations, exceed partner expectations
  • Continuously improving systems and processes for managing study tour programs
  • Collaborating with the academic team and faculties to ensure that programs are supported by a strong English teaching and learning program that meets the needs of partner institutions
  • Interpreting needs and offering pragmatic, inclusive, and sustainable solutions based on research and in alignment with university policies and practices
  • Providing detailed analysis and reports on program aspects, including program delivery, accommodation, student satisfaction, and suggesting changes or new initiatives
  • Acting as a coach and fostering growth and development within the team

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in business or TESOL, or progress towards such qualifications, along with extensive relevant experience
  • A solid understanding of business development in an ELICOS setting, including working with overseas university partners
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with a focus on cultural sensitivity and operating independently in international contexts
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and improve data and systems for program quality and tracking information accurately
  • Experience in providing support to students and resolving issues with tact and sensitivity
