#### Job Summary
The Library Information Specialist, under general supervision, is responsible for gathering information, assisting with server maintenance, and processing order requests for the library.

#### Essential Duties and Responsibilities
– Schedule, train, and process timesheets for student workers.
– Assist with statistical gathering and processing of monthly reports for various departments within the library.
– Assist the department supervisor with server maintenance.
– Process order requests.
– Create, delete, and maintain login credentials and permissions settings for library staff on the server.
– Download and process patron load files into the server at the start of every semester.
– Assist with the maintenance of non-print inventory items.
– Participate and assist in program reviews by generating specialty reports on the server.

#### Additional Responsibilities
– Use the library system to create and edit order records, track and resolve purchase requests and items, receive library materials including high-priority items and complex materials (e.g., rush items, special collections, specialized or archival materials, ebooks, digital files, and streaming video) in addition to print materials, and maintain vendor contact lists.
– Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot issues with shipments or account information and resolve questions regarding orders, records, or related issues.
– Maintain financial records to meet fiduciary duty for the university’s retention period policy. Maintain yearly ledger, monitor funds, and assist with the management of the fiscal close in the library system.
– Resolve problems related to ordering and receiving workflows, communicating with selectors, cataloging staff, patrons, and vendors as required.

### Minimum Requirements
– **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
– **Experience**: One year of related experience.

### Preferred Education and Experience
– Three or more years of experience in library work, office work, or customer service.
– Experience in library technical services (acquisitions, cataloging, serials, etc.).
– At least one year of working with databases (data entry, data validation, data correction, information retrieval).
– Additional relevant education may replace the database experience requirement only.

### Knowledge and Abilities
– **Knowledge of**: Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
– **Ability to**:
– Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
– Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
– Plan and organize work.
– Work with details.

### Preferred Knowledge and Experience
– Demonstrated computer competency including Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and Internet applications.
– Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the general public and work well as a team member.
– Problem-solving and analytical skills.
– Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and projects, and learn new skills and applications.

– None.

### Physical Requirements
– Move medium weight boxes, books, or similar items.
