Job Summary:
This position requires a technical leader with extensive knowledge in the field and expertise in particular areas, often necessitating the analysis of unique, unprecedented issues. Responsibilities may include developing strategies, administering policies, processes, and resources, and functioning with significant autonomy. Reporting to the Academics Managing Supervisor (Manager), the role involves applying advanced academic advising concepts and tackling challenging advising issues, developing solutions, and proposing changes to policies and procedures. This role also involves remote communication with students, performing complex research and analysis of academic opportunities, managing study abroad credit processes, and collaborating with various departments to ensure efficient process automation.
Required Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area and/or equivalent experience/training.
– Over six years of relevant experience, including at least two years in an administrative setting.
– Strong oral and written communication skills.
– Sound judgment with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
– Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
– Strong collaborative skills for coordination within a complex organization.
– Interpersonal skills, multicultural competencies, and experience working with diverse populations.
– Prior project management experience.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Teams and SharePoint or equivalents.
– Experience with enrollment management systems and database management software.
– Knowledge of web and social media tools.
– Experience interpreting and applying policies, requirements, or regulations.
– Capability to identify performance measures and enhance system performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Advanced degree in a related field.
– Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures, including those of UC.
– Experience in implementing international education programs.
– Familiarity with international institutions of higher education.
– Experience with social media platforms and services.
– Leadership or management experience in a professional team setting.
Special Conditions:
The UCEAP Systemwide Office is in Goleta, CA, near UCSB. Positions offer a hybrid work arrangement. On-site presence is required for leadership meetings, delegations, trainings, and meetings with direct reports. Travel expenses related to commuting to the office are not reimbursed. Satisfactory background check is required. UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment.
Job Functions:
– 20% Leadership and supervision of Academic Specialists and Analysts, including mentorship and development of training materials.
– 15% Management of student academic records and supervision of registration processes for compliance with UC policies.
– 25% Development and implementation of UCEAP academic processes and policies, and collaboration with academic leadership.
– 15% Student advising and orientation, focusing on preparing students for their academic experiences abroad.
– 10% Communication with international UC Study Centers and host institutions for program academic aspects.
– 10% Program development, evaluation, and promotion, ensuring compliance with academic policies.
– 5% Collaborative project tasks and participation in various UCEAP and Systemwide initiatives
