OVERVIEW The Vice Provost for International Academic Initiatives and Chief Global Engagement Officer serves as Montclair State University’s senior international officer, guiding the institution’s global strategy and internationalization efforts. Reporting directly to the Provost, this role provides leadership across academic, administrative, and partnership-focused dimensions of international engagement. The position is central to aligning global activities with the university’s mission and academic priorities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide strategic leadership for the university’s global strategy and internationalization efforts – Oversee international partnerships across academic and institutional areas – Lead international student and scholar services – Guide global mobility programs, including study abroad and Fulbright-related activities – Oversee international recruitment support – Ensure compliance related to international programs and activities – Lead and support fundraising efforts for global academic initiatives – Serve as the university’s senior international officer REQUIREMENTS – Significant senior-level experience in international education leadership WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Global engagement is a defining element of modern higher education, shaping research collaboration, student learning, and institutional reputation.
