OVERVIEW The ESL Non-Credit PT Program Assistant supports the delivery of non-credit English as a Second Language programming at Connecticut State Community College in Norwalk, Connecticut. This part-time role provides direct administrative and academic support to ESL learners, including international students and Au Pairs, while also assisting faculty and program leadership. The position operates under the guidance of the ESL Non-Credit Coordinator and the ESL Department Chair and plays a key role in the day-to-day functioning of the program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Advise and register ESL students, including international students and Au Pairs – Assess ESL proficiency levels for student placement – Assist with placement exams and final exams – Support ESL instructors with program-related needs – Coordinate and manage student grades – Help with curriculum support and overall program logistics – Provide in-person, phone, and email support to students and other stakeholders REQUIREMENTS – Strong administrative skills – Strong communication skills – ESL-related skills WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Non-credit ESL programs are often a first point of access to higher education and workforce pathways for multilingual learners.
