OVERVIEW The Executive Director of the Center for International Studies at Kean University provides strategic leadership and coordination for the institution’s global engagement efforts. This role oversees international initiatives that support both inbound and outbound student mobility while ensuring alignment with university goals and federal regulations. The position operates at a senior level, guiding international programs that contribute to campus internationalization and student success. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide strategic vision, leadership, and university-wide coordination of global initiatives and programs – Oversee programs serving both inbound and outbound students – Manage education abroad and international exchange programs – Direct services and support for international students and scholars – Lead the development and maintenance of international partnerships – Ensure institutional compliance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. State Department regulations – Serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) – Oversee compliance related to F-1 and J-1 visa regulations and SEVIS – Provide leadership in international student advising REQUIREMENTS – Expertise in F-1 and J-1 nonimmigrant visa regulations – Knowledge of SEVIS administration and compliance – Ability to serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) – Experience with international student advising – Understanding of U.S. DHS and State Department regulatory requirements WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role is central to ensuring that international students, scholars, and study abroad participants are supported within a compliant and well-coordinated institutional framework.
