**Job Description**
**Overview:**
The Intervention Specialist, operating under general supervision, plays a critical role in supporting at-risk students—those on academic probation or suspension. The specialist is dedicated to equipping these students with essential tools for success through proactive advising, which involves ongoing engagement, timely communication, and thorough discussions related to academic progress, performance, and degree planning. This position also encompasses holistic support by identifying external factors impacting academic success and connecting students with both campus and community resources. Furthermore, the role includes facilitating academic interventions that promote academic, personal, and career development.
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities:**
– Collaborate with Academic Success Coaches to support student registration, including course advising, processing registration modifications, verifying prerequisites and class availability, and assessing students’ academic standing.
– Assist students in reviewing and submitting Academic Reinstatement Appeals.
– Conduct student assessments, discuss findings with students and program teams, and track progress of students on probation, suspension, or categorized as “at-risk” based on university criteria.
– Develop and implement new strategies to enhance retention efforts, utilizing a holistic retention model. Assist in evaluating these strategies.
– Respond to early alerts from faculty/staff and aid students in establishing goals that foster their success.
– Serve as a liaison for academic support resources, including tutoring, library services, and Student Support Services on campus.
– Act as an intermediary between student affairs divisions such as Counseling, Student Disability Services, Career Services, and Financial Aid.
– Employ data-driven outreach methods, proactive resource referrals, and timely academic interventions to address student needs.
– Maintain confidentiality of student records and program data.
– Document advising interactions, check-ins, and other academic interventions.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
– **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
– **Experience:** Three years of related experience.
**Knowledge and Skills:**
– Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
– Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
– Capability to multitask and collaborate effectively with others.
– Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
**Licensing/Certification:** None required.
**Work Environment:** General office setting. Physical demands align with those generally associated with normal office work. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
**Supervisory Responsibilities:** This role generally encompasses the supervision of employees.
**Other Requirements:**
– Must be available for evening and weekend work as needed.
– Position requires in-person interactions on campus.
– Consistent attendance on campus and in the workplace is mandatory.
**Salary:** $19.06 per hour
