International Student Specialist (Part-Time) – Insights for International Applicants

Special Information:
This role requires physical presence at NAU’s Flagstaff Mountain Campus, where remote work opportunities are limited. Applicants must be available during standard office hours, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., working approximately 4 hours each day.
Role Overview:
As an International Student Specialist, you’ll be a key player in supporting the success of international students at NAU. Collaborating with International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), you’ll assist with immigration questions during students’ arrival at Orientation and throughout their academic journey, fostering academic adjustments and cultural integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support & SEVIS Compliance (75%): Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO), offering guidance on ISSS programs, handling student documentation, and ensuring compliance with F1 procedures.
- Programming & Communication (10%): Help organize orientation events and workshops, develop content for flyers and social media, and co-advise international student clubs.
- Special Projects & Additional Responsibilities (10%): Engage in special projects, mandatory trainings, and administrative tasks.
- Other Duties (5%): Contribute to other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 1-2 years of administrative or similar experience. US citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required for DSO and ARO roles.
- Preferred Attributes: International experience, strong multi-tasking abilities, excellent customer service skills, proficient communication skills in English (additional languages are advantageous), and familiarity with standard office technology and software.
