### [C24-069] International Student Services Advisor

**Position Overview:**
Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) is inviting applications for a full-time International Student Services Advisor position within the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office at the Center for International Education. We are seeking motivated candidates passionate about international education and well-versed in immigration laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will understand the cultural adjustments international students and scholars face when transitioning to life at CCSU and in the United States. **About International Student and Scholar Services at the Center for International Education:**
The ISSS office provides critical immigration and cultural adjustment advising to international students and scholars, aiding their integration into CCSU and the United States. ISSS serves as a home away from home for all international students and scholars.

**Position Profile:**
The International Student Services Advisor will serve as the Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) under the guidance of the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and/or Responsible Officer (RO). They will perform various federal immigration tasks, including maintaining records in SEVIS and the University’s ISSM database, completing federal immigration forms, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

**Key Responsibilities:**
– Provide information to international students, faculty, staff, visiting faculty, and prospective international applicants about ISSS services, various resources, and visa opportunities.
– Manage records including data entry, audit, organization, maintenance, and reporting, resolving data discrepancies and integrity issues, and escalating complex issues as needed.

**Applicant Evaluative Criteria:**

**Education:**
– A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.

**Experience and Training:**
– Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in administration, advising operations, programs, and student service delivery within a high school, college, or university’s ISSS program.
– Demonstrated working knowledge of F-1 and J-1 visas, experience with SEVIS, and familiarity with other visa categories and immigration-related services.

**Ideal Candidates:**
– Experience living or studying abroad.
– Current J-1 Program Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) designation.

**Credentials and/or experience comparable to the above may also be considered.**

**Special Requirement:**
The incumbent must qualify for and maintain designation as a DSO and/or ARO as defined by the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. They must also obtain and maintain authorization to access and use SEVIS. A U.S. permanent resident or citizen is required.

**Compensation and Employee Benefits:**
The International Student Services Advisor position is compensated at the Administrator III salary level per the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement. For more details, please visit [SUOAF](#).
