#### **Job Description**

ASU proudly welcomes international students from around the globe, providing them with support to achieve their educational goals. The International Student Advisor for Sponsored Students collaborates with the Assistant Director for Sponsored Initiatives to ensure that students funded by their home country governments or other entities fulfill all immigration and scholarship obligations.

#### **Salary Range**

$45,000 – $48,000 per year; Depending on Experience (DOE)

#### **Essential Duties**

– Interpret scholarship requirements and obligations for F-1 sponsored students.
– Provide immigration advice to F-1 sponsored students and act as a Designated School Official (DSO).
– Monitor regulatory updates and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
– Develop workshops and information sessions for new sponsored students to understand their scholarship rules and requirements.
– Create and maintain instructional materials for students about scholarship rules.
– Assist with visits from embassy delegations and cultural offices.
– Review and approve immigration benefits eligibility, and analyze daily SEVIS reportable items using FSA Atlas software.
– Oversee the maintenance of student files for accurate record-keeping.
– Maintain lists of sponsored students and their statuses.
– Respond to sponsors’ inquiries about students’ academic progress.
– Coordinate with academic colleges and schools regarding students’ academic progress.

#### **Minimum Qualifications**

– **Education:** Bachelor’s degree
– **Experience:** One year of immigration advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience
– **Certification Requirement:** Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident for DSO certification

#### **Desired Qualifications**

– Experience working with sponsored students and their sponsors
– Proficiency in another language, preferably Arabic
– Familiarity with Sunapsis, Salesforce, Microsoft Suite, and Adobe

#### **Working Environment**

– Mainly conducted in a climate-controlled office setting, requiring extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
– Daily use of a desktop computer, including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting items up to 20 pounds.
– May require irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
– Clear communication is essential for performing essential duties.
– Regular task reviews.

The International Students and Scholars Center is part of the Division of Enrollment Services, which uses various strategies to enroll and support a diverse student body aligned with Arizona State University’s vision.

The Center provides visa and immigration advice and support to international students and scholars, managing visa programs, coordinating orientations, and assisting with visa and immigration processes for new students, staff, and scholars.

ASU enrolls over 8,000 international students from 130 countries and hosts nearly 700 international faculty and scholars annually. The Center collaborates with academic and administrative units to support comprehensive internationalization and enhance the experience of international students and scholars at ASU.
