**Job Summary:**
Arizona State University (ASU) takes pride in welcoming international students from across the globe to support their educational aspirations. We are seeking an International Student Advisor for Sponsored Students to collaborate with the Assistant Director for Sponsored Initiatives. This role ensures that students sponsored by their home country governments and other entities meet all their immigration and scholarship requirements.
**Salary Range:**
$45,000 – $48,000 per year; DOE

**Key Responsibilities:**
– Interpret scholarship requirements and obligations for F-1 sponsored students.
– Provide immigration advisement to F-1 sponsored students and serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).
– Monitor regulatory updates and apply necessary changes to operations, forms, and advisement to maintain compliance.
– Develop workshops and information sessions for new sponsored student welcome events and materials.
– Create and maintain materials to help students understand their scholarship rules.
– Assist with visits from delegations, embassies, and cultural offices.
– Review and approve immigration benefits eligibility, utilizing FSA Atlas software.
– Maintain accurate record-keeping of student files.
– Keep lists of sponsored students and monitor their status.
– Fulfill sponsors’ requests concerning their students’ academic progress.
– Collaborate with academic colleges and schools on inquiries regarding students’ academic progress.
**Minimum Requirements:**
– Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in immigration advising; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education.
– Federal regulations require the candidate to be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident for certification as a Designated School Official (DSO).
**Preferred Qualifications:**
– Experience working with sponsored students and their sponsors.
– Proficiency in another language (Arabic preferred).
– Familiarity with Sunapsis, Salesforce, Microsoft Suite, and Adobe.
**Work Environment:**
– Primarily office-based with climate control.
– Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
– Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer use.
– Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
– May involve irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
– Clear communication skills essential for job duties.
– Regular review of completed tasks.
**Department Overview:**
The International Students and Scholars Center is part of the Division of Enrollment Services dedicated to enrolling and supporting a diverse student population. The center comprises experts who provide visa and immigration advice and support academic and employment-based programs. They coordinate orientations and assist with visas for international students, faculty, and scholars.
ASU enrolls over 8,000 international students from 130 countries and hosts nearly 700 international faculty and scholars annually. The department collaborates with academic and administrative units to enhance the international students’ and scholars’ experience at ASU.
