Position: International Student Advisor, Senior
Location: International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS), Atlanta Campus
Role Overview:
As a Senior International Student Advisor, you’ll play a crucial role in guiding international students through F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations, and university policies. You’ll collaborate with admissions offices to facilitate the issuance of I-20s and manage onboarding communication for incoming students. You’ll also use Sunapsis immigration compliance software and GSU’s Banner system to manage documentation and student support.

Key Responsibilities:
- Advising:
– Provide both in-person and virtual advising on immigration matters using compliance software.
– Stay informed about federal immigration regulation changes and serve as a resource for students.
– Address student concerns, escalating issues to leadership when necessary.
- Enrollment Management:
– Work with admissions offices to issue I-20s for newly admitted students.
– Manage orientation software and participate in admissions-related activities.
- Processing Requests:
– Respond to alerts and student requests using Sunapsis.
– Keep software functionality updated for optimal student service.
- Collaboration:
– Foster relationships with campus offices to provide referrals.
– Support internationalization goals through events and programs.
– Serve on committees to enhance student engagement.
– Advocate for international students within the university and community.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong written and oral communication abilities
- Effective organizational skills
- Knowledge of federal immigration regulations
- Understanding of university policies
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Familiarity with local community resources
